What is ITCHY SCALP | Herbal Remedies for ITCHY SCALP | Herbal Tips for ITCHY SCALP
True eczema is a condition which you will already know yourself to be vulnerable to and have identified. However an itchy scalp can be caused by inadequate rinsing after shampooing, covering the head, chlorine, salt, chemicals in hair preparations, central heating or an allergic reaction. It is best overcome by using a mild vinegar rinse before shampooing and to shampoo every other day with a very mild shampoo followed by a herbal, lemon or vinegar rinse.
Use a scalp conditioner regularly. Catmint, comfrey, nettle (especially dead white nettle), parsley, raspberry leaves, quince, rosemary, southern-wood, thyme and yarrow are healing and soothing and will improve the condition of the hair. Essential oils of lavender and juniper will also help.
See as well the lavender oil for Eczema – not only is it an excellent oil to use for this condition but many other herbal oils can be made in the same way. One or 2 drops of bergamot oil added to and eggcup of sunflower oil is another healing unguent, and olive oil heated with rosemary, nettle or catnip alleviates an itchy scalp.
