Ford is going to launch its new hatch back ‘Figo’ in India to compete in India’s largest and most important small car market segment.

Ford will launch the Figo in the first week of March as they are setting up new dealerships for the ease of sales for its new hatchback. Advertisements have started coming and bookings are open. Roadtests have been conducted and results are positive, the 1.4L Diesel being more complimented.

The Figo will be coming in 2 engines – the 1.2L petrol and the famous 1.4L Diesel. Ford will definitely price the Figo very competitively and is expected to start from Rs 3.5L-5.7L.

The 1.4L Duratorq diesel engine produces 69bhp and torque of 160Nm. The 1.2L DuraTec MPFI Petrol engine produces 72bhp and torque of 104Nm. These engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. An automatic variant is not yet on plans and we dont expect it either.

The Figo comes in 4 variants: (both Petrol and Diesel)

* LXi
* EXi
* ZXi
* Titanium

The standard features include – body coloured bumpers, remote fuel filler opening, cupholders, digital odometer, distance to empty, water in fuel indicator (Diesel), 3 point seatbelt for front and rear seat.

The addons to the LXi variant – left side OSRVM, full wheel cover, front power windows, remote boot release, fabric insert on door trim (interior), removable rear parcel tray, Mp3 CD player with 4 speakers, central locking, keyless entry, Anti theft ECU immobiliser.

Estimated Fuel Economy (Mileage):

Petrol – 14 kmpl
Diesel – 18 kmpl

The add-ons to ZXi – body colored door handles and OSRVM, chrome on radiator grille, side repeater lamps and tailgate applique, height adjustable driver seat, electrically adjustable OSRVM, optional coral red dashboard, MP3 player with 4 speakers, bluetooth phone interface, call list, call mute, sms notification, audio streaming, tachometer, rear window washer and wiper, rear defogger

Titanium add-ons – All features of Zxi + ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, variable 6 speed intermittent wipers, anti drip wiping.

The Ford Figo will come in 7 different colours:

The Ford Figo is expected to be a hot seller according to Ford. With so much confidence, Ford will have a competitive price and the feature seem very impressive. The reviews and tests were positive, the features are impressive and the price is expected to be a rocker. Ford seems to have another Fiesta in the making here.
